Crawl (Riding High part 3):
This piece is a combination of two pieces originally called Omniverse no.3 & no. 2 consecutively.
This version was recorded by the same means & process as
The Last Leg with the one exception that basic tracks were recorded a consecutive weekend with Josh on drums.
David told me that the lyrics were inspired by a young
attractive woman who disappeared into a drugstore bathroom to huff multiple cans of compressed air; Filling the bathroom with vomit, and then disappeared into the night.
Recorded 2015
lyrics
cold, colder than death
cold as the curtain of night
cold as the mountaintop
you gaze away
shuddering from pit to pit
you turned from the fire
it singed your hair
smothering blankets
that muffled your voice
before ever you spoke
the cruelest joke
icy hands on your spine
the only peace you can find
hangs in the air like a broken kite
caught in telephone wires
look down, look down
look at this ramshackle town
look at your feet on the ground
sneakers in the snow
and no place to go
stop dreaming of release
or we'll call the police
you can't get away
from the breaking day
think of maps
think of lines
think of things you left behind
innocent, innocent
except for the murder of hope
but can you kill what you can't see?
god knows you can't hear me
or anyone, anyone
when they find you
will you stare at the sky
like a wall?
will you scream?
will you cry?
will you crawl?
will you crawl?
will you crawl?
back to it all
when they find you
will you stare
at the sky
like a wall?
will you scream?
will you cry?
will you crawl
back to it all?
will you crawl
back to it all?
you can crawl
come on and crawl
let's see you crawl
you can crawl
you can crawl
back to it all
